Mail Art Monday!

Happy Birthday Genevieve's!

A local shop is celebrating!  This shop has been a marvelous addition to Blue Springs!  Pam is an incredible lady and Genevieve's is AMAZING!

The base of the card is made similar to my junk journal pages.  Then, I sewed a strip of material across the entire card and made a little loop to hold the card closed.

I cut the letters, candle, and banner from scraps.  They are attached to the card by the single stitch down the middle.

The back of the card has my little girl signature stamp on it.

Then, I created a clear envelope!  I wanted the postman to have a "good mail day" too!

Thanks for stopping by!

At the Cross

I hope you feel blessed today!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Have an amazing day!

At the Cross

As we are leaving the beach and heading home, I thought this picture was appropriate!

One of my favorite things to do on vacation is walk with Jesus on the beach!

I always feel a little closer to Him there...maybe it's looking out at the water and feeling so very small...maybe it's the sound of the waves crashing on the sand...maybe it's the split second that you see a dolphin rise above the water...or perhaps it is just the perfect peace I feel knowing that I serve an awesome God!

Tomorrow starts another school year!  I have a new perspective!  A fresh attitude!
I'm going to cling to:

Proverbs 16:9
The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

Have a blessed day!

My First Junk Journal

Tim Holtz just came out with a new line of fabric!  I am a math teacher!  I LOVE numbers!

Since our family vacation is the last thing I do before starting back to school for another year, this print was a MUST for this journal!

Step one for making a junk journal...collect A LOT of "junk"!  I like to call it treasure!  Anyone who has been to my studio will tell you...there is A LOT of treasure in here!  Lol!

The more the better!  Old books, newspapers, ephemera, maps, ribbon, old cards, wrappers, coffee sleeves, security envelopes...ANYTHING!  You can use it!

Here is a glimpse of all the pages together!

I will post a few of the pages with pictures and journaling...after vacation!

Thanks for stopping by!

Journals, journals everywhere!

I'm making some new journals for the fall!  Today I'm giving you a glimpse of the covers.

Friday, I will be posting my first "junk journal"!  I have seen them ALL OVER Pinterest.  I made one to take on our family trip!  I can't wait to show it to you!

The ties are extra long...just wrap around your journal about 3 times!

This is my NEW prayer journal!

I will be creating pages for the next few months!

The main fabric of this cover is a piece of white broadcloth that I used to clean my hands and brushes on when painting and journaling!  I LOVE that several of my projects, layers of paint, doodles, and ink blotches are represented in this journal for 2014.  It means that a part of 2013 will continue to inspire me throughout the next year!

The back cover...a constant reminder that I create to honor Him!

DIY - Mail Art - Monday!

Happy Monday!

Did you send someone a special note last week?

I LOVE security envelopes!

I LOVE painted paper!

I LOVE washi tape!

When you put them all together...you get FUN, FAST, and FABULOUS Mail Art!

If you haven't saved your security envelopes before today...well...go dig through your junk mail!  They are there...treasures to be found!

When you open the envelope, turn it inside out, and add a few details...you get a masterpiece that any mother, daughter, spouse, co-worker, grandchild, or friend would LOVE to receive in the mail!

Here are just a few examples of some of my pieces!

You will notice that I always add "Happy Mail Day" to my envelopes! My daughter thinks it is goofy...BUT I know she secretly LOVES it!

When you send these...glue the envelope closed, and add a few little pieces of tape to the back flap of the envelope to coordinate it all together...sorry I didn't take a picture...but you get the idea!

Thanks for stopping by!

At the Cross

The NEW memory verse for the next two weeks:

Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

This is a great reminder to us all...
Especially teachers that are heading back to start a new school year!
Ohhhh! The impact we can make!

Have a blessed day!

Mixed Media Sail boats

Happy Birthday Dad!

Since you ALWAYS get to celebrate your birthday with a vacation, I made a few sailboats to remember this year!

The sails you will see in the harbors at Hilton Head will not be this colorful, but you know how I love color!  White sails are just another blank canvas!

Hand-painted sails...with random marks of color!

Distressed wood...LOVE it!
