Happy Halloween

A little jack-o-lantern sketch for you!

I saw this poem a few years ago...I have always loved jack-o-lanterns!  The crooked smile, the bright eyes, each one has a little personality all its own.  I've collected them for years!  This poem...made me love them even more!

Enjoy!

CHRISTIANS ARE LIKE JACK-O-LANTERNS
God picks you from the patch, and brings you in.

He washes all of the dirt off which you may have gotten
from other pumpkins.  Then, He cuts the top off and
scoops out all of the yucky stuff.  He removes seeds
of doubt, hate, greed, unforgiveness, etc.  Then, He
carves a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you
to shine for all the world to see.
Be a jack-o-lantern for Jesus!

AND...I'll end my post with a little "nerdy" goodness for you!

Have a Happy Halloween!

Doodled Patterns

I've been pretty sick the past few days...all I have had the energy to do is some mindless doodling!

Here are a few pictures from my sketch book.

I'm not sure what I will do with these...I'm just playing with patterns for now...enjoying he process!

At the Cross

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Have a blessed week!

Repurposed Wood Signs

We had conferences at school all week...so I have only had a few hours in my studio.

I wanted to show you what I made tonight!

When I have little pieces of wood leftover from another project, I like to make them into signs.

I painted the background turquoise, sanded it A LOT, and then painted the flowers and added a few doodles!  The letters are written with a permanent pen.

I will give it a coat of stain tomorrow...and she will be all ready to wrap up and give away!

My Secret Sister loves this verse.  So, I made this little sign for her!

Mail Art Monday!

Happy Monday!

I've been making a few painted cards for Genevieve's!  This one started with this pink painted background.  I used my Geli plate to create my first layer of paint. Then, I used a stamp to paint a repeated pattern on top in another shade of pink.

The front has three of my flowers on it.  The inside is blank...with a little surprise!  On each card the front has embellishments sewn on...this creates black thread on the inside of the card.  So, I used the black thread as an outline, and created a little picture by adding doodles inside.

Special News Update!

Today is an AWESOME day!

Today I placed several pieces of my art in a local boutique called Genevieve's.  I am so excited!

These are just a few of the pieces I will be selling.  The paper bags and envelopes under the colorful journal are my other exciting piece of news!  I will also be teaching my first art class in December!  All of the advertising and sign-up information will be on Genevieve's website!  We will be making a vintage paper junk journal.

I hope you had a beautiful day!

Mail Art Monday

Happy Mail Day!

This is a little card I made for my Secret Sister at church!

I did a little stitching and doodling on top of some paint pallet paper I had laying around.

Inside the card...I used the stitching to make another little birdy and doodled in the chevron.

I hope you make today beautiful!

At the Cross

One year ago this weekend I was at Brave Girl Camp.  It was such an incredible weekend.  My dear friend, Renee, sent an email with the closing song we wrote to Melody, Kathy, and the rest of the BG gang!  It is one of those things you read and memories just flood your heart!  Coming together with those women for one week was such a blessing and a treasure I will take into eternity!

Friendship...such a beautiful gift from our heavenly Father!
Today, I am reminded of my business verse:

 James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Time seems to pass by so quickly.  Treasure the gifts of your Heavenly Father!  He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow...and He delights in giving you gifts!

I have exciting news coming this week about a gift He is giving me!

God Bless-
Lara
