Snow Ice-cream

When it has snowed 24 inches in two weeks time...and it looks like this outside:

What is a girl to do...but gather up some snow...

Bring it inside...

And...make some snow ice-cream!

Yum!  I can't wait to try her recipe!

She added a little Reese's peanut butter cup for mom!

Can you even call it ice-cream if it isn't topped with Reese's peanut butter cups?

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you are staying warm!

At the Cross

The Body of Christ

Matthew 18:19-20

Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a marvelous week!

DIY - Painted Clipboard

One of my daughter's Forensics coaches needed a little clipboard that would fit in her purse.  So, I headed to the thrift store to see what I could find.  I found the perfect 4x5 clipboard for $.49.

I created some painted papers by adding texture with hand-carved stamps...then I made a tag with the 2013 theme on it...and a fun, one-of-a-kind, forensics and debate clipboard was born!

I LOVE this washi tape.  I thought it was appropriate to point out the forensics slogan on the back!

I added red and turquoise little dots with the back of my paintbrush and a few doodles to add more texture!

Serving Tray Make-over

Valentine Party

My daughter had a Valentine party this weekend.  One of her friends baked these beautiful cupcakes.  I wanted a special platter to serve them on.  So...I headed to the thrift store to see what I could find!  I found this great white platter for $.49.  Took it home...put it through the dishwasher...AND...

I added a few doodles.

You can tell it is a very simple pattern.  Scallops, dots, and lines with a circle on top.

Just a peek at a few of the other decorations.  The girls all wore pink...They ate all sorts of pink candy...Watched a "chick flick"...painted nails...and laughed A LOT!  It was a sweet evening.

This is one of the pink tissue papers roses that the girls created.

Thanks for stopping by.

AT the Cross

Psalm 100
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a marvelous Sunday!

Craft Table Make-over

One of my work surfaces was boring wood grain.  So...this weekend, I decided it needed a little paint. The picture of the entire surface didn't turn out that great...so I'm going to show a few close-up pictures of different sections.

I started by adding a few fun collage papers.

And...some washi tape

Then, I added a bit of turquoise!  My absolute favorite color!

I also added a little red and yellow with stencils.

I LOVE that this work surface is colorful and waterproof!

A Glimpse into my Art Journal

2013 - My First Art Journal

I have tried so many new techniques in here already!  I've sewn on a few pages.

This is a little bird that I doodled for Brave Girl Art School.

A close-up of my little bird.

This is a sample of some journal writing inside lines and a few see-through pockets!
They are really fun!

On the left you can see a print I made from my Gelli Plate.  This is another technique I have tried in the last week. It is a super cool process...I will show a few more prints later this week.

I'm also learning to draw faces.  I figured...I should show the process.  I am hopeful that when I look back through the pages of my art journal and through these posts...I will see my art transforming with practice!  She has good features...AND...she definitely has features that need a little more practice!

At the Cross

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith...

Owl Love - Miss Sophie

In Brave Girl Art School everything is about wings...and right now we are learning to draw birds.  I'm not a big bird fan...BUT...I LOVE owls and butterflies.  So...I decided to use the techniques to make a mixed-media owl.

Meet Miss Sophie

I used modeling paste to texture her front feathers and the tree branches to the right.  I used a technique from Life Book - by Alisa Burke for the leaves on the branch.  The nest was created using book pages, fabric scraps, and scraps of a paper bag.  Then I doodled around the eyes and on the wings.

Here's a closeup of the nest!
